Nutrition is an integral part of treating and preventing different ailments. The journey of maintaining good health begins by making healthy diet changes and frequent visits to a dietician. It is essential to get nutrition advice and a complete dietary analysis done to ensure that all the additional requirements are met.

The paramedical Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at SMRC, forms an essential part of the hospital management. It is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting nutritional screening, counseling and provision of wholesome diet to patients based on their needs while they are in the hospital.

We at SMRC, work in collaboration with other departments like nephrology, cardiovascular, gastroenterology, gynecology and pediatric care to provide optimum dietary delivery.

We are specialized in assessing the nutritional status of the patient, calculating dietary requirements and planning of the diets depending upon the patients health conditions.

Objectives of our department:- 

* To impart adequate quality nutrition care and dietetics facilities.

* To support the latest evolution of the dietetic practice along with the progress of new technologies in food service and clinical nutrition.

* To provide nutritious, healthy & hygienic meals to the patients.

*Enteral feeding via tube feeding is today, the preferred way of feeding the critically ill patient and an important means of counteracting for the catabolic state induced by severe diseases.

The dietetics department supervises the food & beverage department which has been outsourced and helps to provide foods keeping in mind the health conditions and maintaining proper hygienic standards.

All patients are advised diet consults as part of Care Of Plan on discharge.

The department also holds OPD sessions to the outsiders who come seeking diet plans to keep fit. It involves taking the patients case history and providing adequate plans and guidelines for a healthier & fit lifestyle.
